Challenge
OPTCL, a significant Transmission Utility Company fully owned by the Government of Odisha, is responsible for managing the transmission and distribution of electricity in the State. Its numerous projects and field units are strategically positioned throughout the region to ensure efficient operations. The Human Resource Department of OPTCL faces significant challenges in managing staff transfers, promotions, and relocations in accordance with company policies. The manual process currently in place is prone to human error, time-consuming, and often results in delays. OPTCL seeks to implement a system that utilizes AI technology to automate the creation of transfer lists, issuance of transfer orders, and coordination of staff relocations and onboarding processes at new locations. The primary objective is to increase transparency, ensure unbiased decision-making, and enforce consistent policies across all levels of the organization.
Solution
NCS collaborated with OPTCL to develop custom executive transfer software that aligns with their specific business rules and policies. The main challenge encountered was integrating the solution with SAP Success factors, the HRMS platform used by OPTCL. The software pulls employee profiles, job histories, promotions, and eligibility details from SAP, while incorporating business rules for executive transfers. Employing advanced algorithms, AI, and ML, the software finalizes the transfer list and identifies any exceptions that may arise, allowing management to address such cases accordingly. The solution generates transfer lists, transfer orders, and joining reports for executives in accordance with OPTCL's policies and business requirements.
